I'm Bummed!

Man oh man am I bummed!!!!
I just had my husband look at all 10 of my Christmas cards that I've made for this year and he said that maybe someone would like to get them for Christmas but he'd rather send out store bought ones :(
So, I am a little bit bummed.....This is actually depressing.  Is it just that he's a guy or what?  When I post my cards, I get such lovely comments.  Maybe I should just break down and let him buy some Thomas Kincade cards and send them out.
Hope everyone else is having a better day than I'm having.
Hugs,
Carolyn

  3. hey that card is gorgeous, I read a story once about a lady who spent hours creating cards to give for Christmas each year. After a few years, one of the recipients actually had the nerve to offer her money to buy some real cards!!! It is a guy thing but then it is also a an unappreciative person who doesn't value the time and effort that we put into creating and sharing thing. If my dh told me that he would get a stocking full of coal upside the head! ignore him and share your beautiful works of art!

  4. Oh Carolyn your card is delightful! I for one would love one of your cards, men are the other species where crafting is concerned, I'm sure whoever receives your cards will be thrilled

  6. Well I want to say it's a guy thing... but everybody is different.

Maybe he wants you to keep them for yourself?

They do take hard work and precious time so maybe he figures they wouldn't appreciate your hard work.

I'm looking at your card and there is NOTHING wrong with it.SOOOO with a puzzle look I'm not sure why he wouldn't want to send these beautiful cards out.

The colouring is perfect and the colour sketch is precious!

Cheer up I'll take them any day of the week :D

  7. Almost everyone would rather receive a beautiful card like this one that someone had put love and thought into than a store bought one.

  9. Hi Carolyn!
I beg to differ. My hubby loves my cards and tells me so. Anyone can buy a card but not everyone can make a card and put all their love and effort into it. It shows the person that you care enough to spend time on making a card especially for them.
I think your card is beautiful so keep making them. Shake it off and put a smile on your face and know that we appreciate seeing them.
Hugs Maz and my DH Doug. He loves your card too.

  10. Your card is lovely, and, as Cheryl said, many people would prefer to get a unique, handmade card than a store-bought one.

  11. Hey Carolyn - don't be bummed -- everyone is so different. He just does not understand. Your cards are beautiful and I know family and friends would love to have them. If he wants to send out his own cards let him but if I were you I would keep on trucking and send your family and friends your wonderful cards. Now as for your card - it is very pretty and I love this image. Your coloring looks fantastic and I love the way you have your blog decorated - just love it. Keep the faith girlfriend!!!!!

  12. Did Picasso stop because nobody liked his paintings? No...and look at what they're worth today. Don't even think twice about it. You should be doing this for your own enjoyment. If you enjoy creating cards, then don't ever stop because of what someone else thinks or says. It doesn't matter. Have fun and coninue to create your beautiful works of art! Gorgeous card!!

  14. Your work is gorgeous. Pay no mind to your DH. Mine rarely comments on anything I do so I just don't rely on him for feedback, LOL. I love this card so hold your head high and send these out, anyone would just love to get them!!

  15. Definitely a guy thing - mine can't get his head around the time it takes against the cost of store bought and I think deep in his heart he suffers from the 'home-made'not quite good enough problem. Forgive your DH, and make some more lovely cards!

  16. Your cards are beautiful!! Try asking him why he feels that way! But send yours, lol.

  17. Carolyn, don't give what your husband said another thought...Your cards are beautiful. He either doesn't appreciate or understand the time and love that you put into your cards. Unfortunately there are people out that that feel you have to spend money or you're being cheap...what they don't realize is that the cards we create are worth much more than the store bought cards when you look at what we spend on supplies and our time. I have some people that I will not send a handmade card to because of the fact they don't appreciate my time and love put into something. Be proud of your work...it is beautiful and many will appreciate your time and efforts.
    Hugs~

  18. I'm thinking that your hubby is seeing all the effort and time that you put into your cards and feels that he will take the burden off your shoulders.....little does he know that making cards and papercrafting is better than Therapy...not cheaper, just better......lol
I have a stamp that says "Handmade because you're worth it"!!
Your cards are beautiful - and if you enjoy making them, keep it up.
Besides, you get to hang out with all the rest of us Magnolia nuts....lol

  19. GRRR, hope it is as Madge suggested. My DH, on the other hand, prefers I make cards for giving (which can sometimes also be a pain, but then I prefer to receive hand crafted cards and gifts, so it 'tis only fair that I reciprocate). Your cards are lovely, and I'm sure that anyone would be thrilled to receive one!

  20. Ok, I am a guy and this card is gorgeous. I think you should mail your husband to some relatives for the holidays. LOL. Great job!!!

  21. Sometimes men can be a little insensitive and I'm sorry he hurt your feelings (maybe it wasn't intentional!!!) With that being said, don't ever stop doing what you love - if it's your passion, then do it and don't let anything or anyone stop you. This card is absolutely fabulous - love the doily and gorgeous flowers. The glittery sentiment is the perfect touch! xx

  24. People definitely prefer handmade covers over store-bought ones, however, I think he might've said that because handmade cards can be time-consuming. Maybe he doesn't want you to over work yourself? Your card is absolutely beautiful by the way. Please don't doubt yourself and if you love making handmade cards like many of us do THEN DO IT!!!!

  25. My husband says the same thing. They just dont understand.I know Women enjoy getting homemade cards.. Please don't be bummed.. You make excellent cards, I would love to receive one.. Please keep card making..Thanks for sharing.. Dee

  26. I am so sorry he said that! Sometimes people who aren't crafty just don't get it. Plus, sometimes my husband thinks about the cost of it and maybe that's why he said it. I'm so sorry he hurt your feelings, though. It is a BEAUTIFUL card and anyone who received it would love it and appreciate all the hard work you put into it!

  27. I agree. It's a guy thing. You might also ask him why he would prefer store bought cards. Some people think "homemade" means cheap and we all know that isn't true with the cards you have made. Each one is a work of art. It's funny but the people who tell me they save every card I send them are the last ones I would expect to hear that from. Keep on creating and I wish I was on your Christmas list
    Hugs,
    Julie

  28. Hi Carolyn!
My hubby said the same thing when I first started making cards. That is until some of his guy friends started telling him how nice my cards were. Shhhh--the guys' wives were part of my stamping group and had done the same thing to their wives. After a few "bad" dinners and no clean clothes they got the message and so did mine.

  31. Hi Carolyn
Guy thing??? I don't agree. I think your husband is a bum and needs a kick up it. I have not met anybody who doesn't like to receive a hand made card filled with love. HE doesn't seem to appreciate YOU at all. It is a very hurtful thing he said to you in my opinion and I am sorry that he hurt your feelings the way he did. Your card is beautiful and I am sure all of your cards are. Cary on making people feel special by sending them a unique card made specially for them.
Have a special, blessed and great week

  32. Definately Home made cards. I have been making my cards for the last 15 years and would not even consider store bought. Also your card is lovely.

  33. I agree with the others, it is a male thing. Usually their taste is found only in their mouths, I think your card is amazing and people will love to receive a little part of you. Let him send store bought cards to his friends and sign them and address them too. LOL.

  34. Your cards are beautiful!! Don't let him fool you. I bet he's only thinking about the extra postage to send them out. HEHE!! It may be a guy thing but I always ask my DH's opinion on each card that I make. Amazingly sometimes his ideas are better than mine. Hang in there and keep on creating!!

  35. Carolyn, don't pay any attention to him..What do men know anyway!!! I think your cards are all fabulous. I show mine to my DH and he looks and says that is nice and goes right back to what he is doing, sometimes he says it and doesn't even look up!! I love doing it so don't really care what he says..I found out a few months ago, when I'm not at home he shows whoever comes over all my cards and brags on them and don't know why he can't tell me. Just being a man I guess.
