Scrapbooking

Not much going on here.  Working on the Hibiscus block and taking the Close to My Heart Training Academy Classes.  Spent Friday with my friend Diane Judy.  We were at her house scrapbooking.  We finished one layout from a previous day and started another two page layout and I finished mine....don't know about Diane's though.
Been reading my "Hearing From God Daily" devotional on my Kindle.  I am surprised how I am keeping up with it though.  God is in the business of doing miracles.  I am bad about starting stuff and leaving them for a time before I finish.  I am not proud of this....it is kind of sad really.
With my Hibiscus block, I'll have two classes.  One for Phyllis @ Quilts by Phyllis on June 26th I believe and one for the TM's @ Toyota.  I can't wait because I really like to teach.
I guess that is it for now. Piece, Carolyn

Applique Class

Hibiscus Applique Class is going to be @ Quilts by Phyllis on June 26th.  Can't wait.  Phyllis is making kits for the class so that they don't have to worry about color choices.  Phyllis said that people were starting to ask for an applique class and I don't think its by chance that I stopped by to show her my block.  I'll be making my block into a pillow.  I am going to put trim around the block with the orange Batik fabric I used for the petals and then I'll put a ruffle on.                               Piece,

Jamie's Lotus Flower

Picture of Lotus flower in Jamie's pond.  It opened two days ago and I thought I'd better get a picture of it before it died.  It is so pretty with it's yellow center.  We had 3 goldfish in the pond but I think the Raccoons got a free dinner or snack.  They (goldfish ) were pretty tiny.
I am working on the Hibiscus applique for a throw pillow right now.  I think I'm going to add a crumb catcher or a biased strip along the edge before I put a ruffle.  Hopefully I'll have a picture up before you know it:).

Almost There

I'm almost there!  I finally finished the 36th star block last night.  Man, squeezing all that quilt in that small area was frustrating indeed.   I started quilting the feathers in the half square triangles this morning.  Hopefully I'll be done with those and move on to the outer border.  The quilting for the border is in the "I'm still thinking" stage.....I don't want to go the easy route and quilt in stippling.  I want to do something "earthy".   The fabrics are busy with colors so if I did feathers, they'd be lost.   I guess I'll have to search all my magazines and books and see what patterns are in there and see if that helps the 'ol noodle.

Taking Photos

Took photos of my Clematis plant after it rained yesterday.  I am taking various pictures of plants for a art quilt I've had on my mind for a year.  I've got an idea of what I want and I just need to see if I can do it.  It will be a self portrait quilt.  If no one can tell that....then its an art quilt and was intended to look that way:).
I still love my Kindle and I think it is the best ever!  The new toy to have is the I pad.  I don't need it, but I'd love to have one :)  So, I'm going to post another add for the Kindle.  If you like to read I recommend buying one!

Sashiko

This is my first encounter at trying Sashiko.  Oh, I loved it!  I am going to be working on another pillow with an applique and I can see Sashiko finishing it off.
I finished my business card with my Daughter Caitlin's help and it looks very nice.  I was hoping to have my Long arm so that I could do custom quilting for customers but I am still waiting on the Lord.  So, I will teach beginning quilting, applique and beginning piecing.  The money I make off the classes will be put towards savings for a Long Arm.
I am going to add in an ad for a Kindle.  I have one and I love it!!!  My uncle in Dallesport, WA just got his in the mail today.  He called and left a voice mail and sounded so excited!  I remember when I opened my presents and one was the Kindle!  Wow.

Here is my Uncle Eddie's quilt that I've been working on.  I am machine quilting it on my domestic and going to use it on my business cards. My daughter Caitlin, is taking a block from this quilt and doing her "magic" so it'll make a nice picture on my cards.  I can't wait.
I'll start having beginning piecing and beginning applique classes soon so who ever is interested please let me know.  I can't wait.  I am getting so excited.  If you didn't know it, Quilting is my favorite, then Reading, then Scrapbooking.
